Frequently Asked Questions
Simply tap the large "Start Fast" button on the home screen. The timer will begin immediately, and you'll see your progress in the circular timer display.
You can also select a specific fasting plan from your saved routines before starting.
Fed State (0-4h): Your body is digesting your last meal and using glucose for energy.
Fat Burning (4-12h): Insulin levels drop and your body begins accessing stored fat.
Ketosis (12-18h): Your liver starts producing ketones as an alternative fuel source.
Deep Ketosis (18-24h): Ketone levels increase significantly, providing steady energy.
Autophagy (24h+): Cellular cleanup processes accelerate - your body recycles damaged cells.
Note: These timeframes are approximate and vary by individual.
When you're ready to eat, tap the "Stop Fast" button on the home screen. You'll see a summary of your fast, including duration and whether you reached your target.
The fast will be saved to your history automatically.

Troubleshooting
Timer continues after closing the app
This is expected behavior! FastPulse saves your fast's start time, so even if you close the app, your fast continues tracking. When you reopen the app, it will show the correct elapsed time.
Notifications aren't working
Check the following:
- Make sure notifications are enabled in FastPulse Settings
- Check your device's notification settings for FastPulse
- On iOS, go to Settings → FastPulse → Notifications → Allow Notifications
- Make sure Do Not Disturb is not enabled
My streak reset unexpectedly
Your streak counts consecutive days where you completed a fast. A streak may reset if:
- You didn't complete a fast for a full day
- You stopped a fast before reaching your target (marked as incomplete)
Your longest streak is always preserved in your statistics.
Apple Health sync isn't working
Make sure you've granted FastPulse permission to access Apple Health:
- Go to iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → FastPulse
- Enable all permissions (Read and Write)
- Restart FastPulse and try syncing again
App is running slowly or crashing
Try these steps:
- Make sure you're running the latest version of FastPulse
- Close and reopen the app
- Restart your device
- If the issue persists, contact support with details about your device and iOS version
